A powerful explosion shook the Brryl area of ​​Tirana on Wednesday morning, at a gas station located between two buildings and near homes and businesses.

The incident occurred at the "Eida" gas station, where as a result an office space was completely collapsed, while the rest of the gas station structure was also severely damaged. The force of the explosion caused considerable damage, while glass and other materials were scattered in the surrounding area.

Three fuel workers were injured and transported to the Trauma Hospital. According to preliminary information, their lives are out of danger.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. In the initial report, the Police said it was suspected that a gas cylinder exploded while a vehicle was being refueled.

The "Volkswagen Polo" vehicle, which was at the gas station at the time of the incident, suffered damage and burns to the rear.

"In Brryli, at a gas station, it is suspected that a gas cylinder exploded while a vehicle was being refueled. As a result, 3 people, gas station employees, were injured and were taken to hospital for treatment, but their lives are out of danger," the Police announced.

However, the first version of events is not the only one being investigated.

The Director of the Tirana Fire Department, Shkëlqim Goxhaj, stated to the media that, based on preliminary assessments at the scene, it is suspected that the explosion may have occurred in the fuel office building, which has completely collapsed.

According to Goxhaj, the fact that the main part of the gas station was not engulfed in flames, but was damaged by the blast wave, along with the scattering of glass around it, raises suspicions that the origin of the explosion may have been inside the offices.

"Business representatives tell us that a vehicle may have hit the gas stations, but it remains to be seen. Security cameras will be viewed. We will investigate whether there was a technical defect in the gas station," Goxhaj declared.

Another runway is being examined by the State Technical and Industrial Inspectorate (ISHTI).

After preliminary verifications at the scene, the institution has ruled out the possibility that the explosion came from the fuel tanks.

According to ISHTI, preliminary suspicions are that the fire may have started from a vehicle within the station's territory and was then accompanied by an explosion.

Në kuadër të hetimeve, Komisariati nr. 1 ka shoqëruar administratorin, drejtuesin teknik dhe menaxherin e karburantit. Në pyetje janë marrë gjithashtu punonjësit e pikës së karburantit, si dhe drejtuesi i automjetit që po furnizohej me gaz në momentin e ngjarjes.

Paralelisht, autoritetet po verifikojnë dokumentacionin e plotë të pikës së karburantit, përfshirë aktivitetin e saj, kontrollet e kryera ndër vite dhe nëse subjekti dispononte të gjitha lejet dhe autorizimet e parashikuara nga ligji.

A kishte subjekti të gjitha autorizimet për furnizimin me gaz? A dispononte subjekti të gjitha lejet, autorizimet dhe dokumentacionin teknik të nevojshëm për aktivitetin që ushtronte?

A mund të publikoni dokumentet e kontrolleve dhe kolaudimeve?

Kur është kryer kontrolli i fundit teknik? Kur janë kontrolluar pajisjet e gazit? A ka pasur defekte apo probleme të raportuara më parë? A ka pasur ndërhyrje në strukturën e zyrave apo në instalimet e karburantit?

Dhe a disponon subjekti dokumentacionin që provon se të gjitha pajisjet kanë qenë në kushtet e kërkuara të sigurisë?

Pas shpërthimit dhe dëmtimeve të rënda të shkaktuara në pikën e karburantit, autoritetet duhet të vlerësojnë nëse vijimi i aktivitetit përbën rrezik për jetën dhe sigurinë e qytetarëve.
