Aleksandar Vučić/ Edi Rama

" If Edi Rama were to hold elections now, he would lose them ," this is the statement that former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić made during a television debate, where he commented on the situation in Albania and the protests against the government of his political friend.

Taking cue from the massive protests in Serbia, where youth and citizens erupted in the squares, forcing Vučić to resign, the former president said that the Albanian prime minister made a mistake by being too lenient with the protesters.

"He made a mistake. Edi believed longer than I did that he could appease them with something. And he was wrong, he wasted time. And now they... if they force him to call elections, it will be very difficult for him to win those elections. Now everything seems irrational to me. Because he is one of Albania's greatest assets, regardless of how everyone sees it," Vučić claimed.

In this context, the former Serbian president has warned of the risk of losing the elections for Rama, while maintaining a supportive stance towards him in the face of protests.
