The Lekaj-Fier road will be given a concession for 35 years to 8 entities, but how will it be financed? The amount of 320 million euros that the companies have declared, but are they able to get such a loan?

If we look at the balance sheets of the companies that will build the road, the one leading is Fusha shpk, which in 2020 and 2019 reported revenues in the amount of 3 billion ALL, while the company's profit does not reach more than 150-200 million ALL in year, or about 2 million euros.

Meanwhile, the other company Agbes Construction reports total assets of 1.8 billion lek, while profit in the amount of 183 million lek in 2020.

Albavia, the other company, reports total assets of 1.6 billion ALL, while the profit in 2020 reached 63.8 million ALL.

The Kupa company reports income at the level of 743 million lek in 2020, while the profit for this period is 24 million lek, while in 2019 this company has resulted in a loss.

Ante Group reports income at the level of 1 billion ALL, while the profit for 2020 was 78 million ALL.

Meanwhile, Klodioda reports income at the level of 46 million lek for 2019, while the profit is at the level of 12 million lek.

Altea Geostudio reports annual turnover at 181 million ALL, while profit before tax at the level of 11.7 million ALL.

In 2020, Sphaera reported turnover at the level of 22 million alleks, while the profit was 678 thousand alleks and has an undistributed profit of 38 million alleks.

These 8 companies with reported revenues in 2020 do not exceed the level of 8.7 billion alleks together, or 70 million euros, while the road needs a financing of 38 billion alleks or 320 million euros.

Their profits for the period together or the amount of money they have at their disposal is at the level of 560 million lek or 4 million euros.

Under these conditions, they should turn to commercial banks to finance the investment on the Lekaj - Fier road. But will the banks lend to this group of companies that together make 4 million euros in profits. In a similar case, for the Milot-Balldre road, the concessionaire failed because no bank agreed to credit him.

The government accepted the failure of this route and canceled the 260 million euro concession given to a company with modest financial balances. But in the meantime, with interest rates rising significantly around the world, a commercial loan from these companies would almost double the value of the investment.

And so the concessionaire justifies the 35 years of maintaining the road, as it calculates the repayment of the investment, but also the profit it must create, while the state guarantees it for the first 8 years./ TCH
