INSTAT data: Foreign arrivals in January increased by 29.8 percent

Tourism has continued to bring foreigners to our country even in the winter months. After December of last year, this January too, it seems that the trend has been increasing, where the number of foreigners who have entered Albania is 29.8 percent higher than in January of the previous year.

The Institute of Statistics published the official figures of the movement of citizens for January 2024, thus confirming what was declared a few days ago by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

Specifically, according to INSTAT "in January 2024, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 540,415. This number has increased by 18.4%, compared to January 2023. The number of foreign citizens who have entered the Albanian territory is 489,599. This number has increased by 29.8%, compared to the same period of 2023".

INSTAT estimates that the arrivals of Albanian and foreign citizens in the Albanian territory, in the month of January 2024, are 1,030,014.

"This indicator results in an increase of 23.6%, compared to January 2023. The exits of Albanian citizens and foreigners from the territory of Albania, during the month of January 2024, are 1,217,684, marking an increase of 27.5%, compared with the same period of a year ago" says the publication of INSTAT.

Focusing specifically on exits, INSTAT notes that 644,768 Albanians left Albania during the month of January.

"Compared to January 2023, this indicator has increased by 18.9%. The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of January 2024 are 572,916. Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator has increased by 38.8%".

Europeans seem to be the ones who continue to have the highest flow of visitors in January 2024. Specifically, 475,563 citizens entered from Europe, followed by America and East Asia and the Pacific, respectively with 8,867 and 2,157 citizens.

"In January 2024, compared to January 2023, the entries of foreign citizens marked: increase, for personal purposes by 30.2%; growth, for vacation purposes, visiting relatives, etc. with 30.7%; growth, for business and professional purposes, by 8.8%", underlines INSTAT.
