Less tax but more lek, citizens are paying more for fuel even in August

One less tax, but citizens still pay the same for oil and gasoline. The reduction in the price of fuel on the international exchanges and the removal of the marking tax was expected to be reflected in the bills of citizens who use vehicles starting from August 1, but there is no room for optimism.

Almost 1 week has passed since the removal of the marking tax of 1 ALL/liter. A simple observation of the fuel market in the capital shows that there is no price movement compared to a month ago, when this concession was still in effect and citizens paid more taxes.

Although the fuel labeling concession of 1 lek per 1 liter of diesel ended at the end of July and the costs were transferred to the state budget, this has not translated into a reduction in prices for the final consumer, which means that citizens still pay for both oil and gasoline around 182-184 Lek and gas for 57 Lek.

There are about 7 local taxes and fees, included in the price of one liter of diesel, starting from excise duty, turnover tax, VAT, carbon tax, as well as other fees.

But no less tax and a change in prices in the international stock exchanges is not fluctuating the prices in the Albanian markets. According to the "Platts" stock exchange, in the last purchase oil was traded at $722/ton from $794/ton at the beginning of July.

While the Customs Directorate announces that the demand for fuel at the peak of the tourist season has been many times higher than before. In July alone, more than 67,000 tons of fuel were cleared.
