The new address system, how many apartments are registered in Albania?

A new initiative for the application of an address system, where every building and street has a unique code and corresponding name, has been submitted to the Assembly.

But how many buildings and apartments are there in Albania?

Referring to the data of the National Register of Addresses (RKA), it turns out that there are 471 thousand 945 apartments in Albania. Also, 774 thousand 431 buildings are counted.

So far, it turns out that the naming process has been completed for 150 thousand road segments across the country as well as for 115 thousand 11 buildings that are connected to the road segments where they are positioned, according to technical data.

Efforts to build an address system have been early, but this has not yet been realized due to lack of commitment in the process on the part of local units.

What are the expected economic benefits of applying a unique address system?

Both for the citizens and for the government, this process will be fruitful in the economic impacts that all the groups involved will have. Business, the private sector will experience a faster growth spurt as it facilitates logistics and supply chain operations. Improved addresses can contribute to economic development by facilitating better infrastructure planning and development.

Fully addressing parts of the public realm helps identify areas for potential growth, attract investment and support local businesses. Also, a reliable and comprehensive address system helps in efficient tax collection as accurate addresses make it easier for government bodies to identify taxable properties and businesses, ensuring that tax revenue is collected more effectively.

The state and private postal service will operate faster fulfilling its activity. In the judicial system, a shortening of the trial time will also be observed, addressing one of its goals, that of achieving justice without delays.

In the same way, the activity of public administration bodies, police, order and public security will be facilitated, for which it will be possible to find and locate the individual in the territory. All the positive impacts on the affected groups will be accompanied by a positive effect on their economy.
