Tourism-related businesses saw revenue growth in 2022

Businesses related to the tourism sector saw the highest annual revenue growth in 2022.

Also, the high energy prices after the war in Ukraine significantly increased the income for businesses in the energy sector, while technological developments are positively affecting the balance sheets of businesses in the field.

INSTAT data from the final enterprise statistics in 2022 showed that the businesses with the largest increase in sales revenue were travel agencies, with over 73% more than in 2021.

All travel agencies realized 37.5 billion ALL in sales revenue in 2022 from 21.6 billion ALL in 2021.

Revenues in travel agencies were higher in 2022, also due to the limitations of their activity during 2021, where movements were still conditioned by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Energy sector businesses increased sales revenue by 62.6% in 2022, as a result of favorable prices in international markets. Energy businesses realized 313.4 billion ALL in revenue from 192.7 billion ALL in 2021.

The income in this sector is also expanding due to the increase in the number of businesses and their diversification in the production of electricity from the sun in photovoltaic parks.

Hotels and restaurants are also ranked at the top of activities with high turnover growth in 2022 with 53.3% and 47% respectively. Foreign tourists have increased the need for more businesses operating in hotels and restaurants.

Hotels reported 32.7 billion ALL in sales revenue in 2022 from 21.6 billion ALL in 2021. In 2023, revenue from accommodation units is expected to be higher due to the increase in the number of foreign visitors.

Food service businesses represented by restaurants turned over a total of 68.9 billion ALL in 2022 from 46.9 billion ALL in 2021, an annual increase of 47%.

Information services saw revenue increase by 42% in 2022 and professional services by 39.%. This growth is driven by developments in the field of technology, where sales have a higher value.

Real estate activity that has related activity to the construction sector has seen an increase in activity both in the number of enterprises and in sales. Turnovers in these activities will increase by 36.6% in 2022.

Revenues from sales in all activities at the country level reached in 2022, over 3.3 trillion ALL with annual growth of 26.7%. Much of this growth has been generated by high prices following the war in Ukraine.

All economic activities resulted in an increase in income, but the sectors with the lowest expansion were water utilities, which are public enterprises, and health businesses, which had lower activity after the pandemic.
