Prime Minister Edi Rama has today presented the project for the construction of the commercial port of "Porto Romano".

At the press conference where representatives of 30 foreign financial companies were present, Rama said that only one of them will win the tender, stressing that this project is of strategic importance not only for Albania, but for the entire region of South-Eastern Europe. .

"We had the necessary time to examine this strategic project that is so important for the country and I believe also for the region of Southeast Europe and I want to sincerely thank you for coming here, for this meeting, which in my view shows not only interest but also trust . I want to assure you that we are aware of the prejudices that we have to face when it comes to opening our economy, doors and windows so that all those who want to be involved in the economy can enjoy these opportunities.

You will see why I call them biases and not perceptions in reality to have transparent processes and integrity. To have processes that ultimately reward those pillars that have made your companies so loud.

Of course for us as a country, this whole process is extended in time, we come from a past not at all generous with us and three decades of our journey to try to build a modern Albania and an open and competitive economy can be considered too much but also a little as a result of measuring the level of experience. Precisely for this reason, since experience is not on our side, we have referred to international excellences, and undoubtedly at the world level is the company "Royal HaskoningDHV" which is working intensively with seriousness and technical capacities and talent to be admired. We are very grateful, we are not working for free to be clear.

The Dutch are as good as they are expensive. At the end of the day they deserve what they get, so we have no 'regrets' that we are paying them not so cheaply. I believe that the company is one of the reasons, if not the main one, that you have come here with confidence and I want to assure you that we are very honored to have you here. I have in front of me the list of companies that, as the deputy prime minister said, has a pretty impressive geographical spread, and 30 companies gathered here for a project like ours fills us with optimism, even though in the end only one company will win.
