The start of the tourist season and the return of immigrants to their homeland to rest is often accompanied by the blocking of their money at the border. Referring to Albanian law, all those who have more than 10,000 euros must make their declaration at the border point
The start of the summer season is accompanied by a high flow of movements through the country's border points and, in not a few cases, even more movements of money. This has led the Border Police to strengthen controls in recent years, especially with regard to attempts to bring in undeclared money.
Referring to the official police announcement, the Border Police Services in Port Durrës have finalized the coded operation "Next" where they have seized 35 thousand and 755 undeclared euros. 4 citizens have been handcuffed, 2 of whom were drivers of the bus where the money was hidden.
Referring to Albanian law, all persons who enter/or leave the territory of the Republic of Albania are obliged to declare amounts in cash, any type of negotiable instrument of the bearer, metals or precious stones, valuables and objects antiques, starting from the amount of 10,000 euros or its equivalent in other currencies, the purpose of keeping them, as well as to present relevant justifying documents.
The declaration is made near the offices of the Customs Administration, at the Border Crossing Point, entry or exit.
