Hotels and travel agencies with the highest sales growth at the end of 2023

Businesses related to the tourism sector such as hotels and travel agencies had the highest sales growth in the last quarter of 2023 of the entire service sector which includes economic activities such as wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles and motorcycles; Transport, Warehousing and Mail; Hotels; Bar-Restaurant; Information and Communication; Architecture and Engineering Activities and Travel Agency, INSTAT reported.

Trade, local sales

In the sector of wholesale and retail trade and in the repair of vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2023, the index of net sales in volume recorded a decrease of 0.1%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The number of employees recorded an increase of 0.9%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The wage fund index increased by 18.3% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Transport, sales increase by 5.6%

The activities of transport, storage, mail marked an increase in sales volume by 5.8%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The index of the number of employees marked an increase of 4.1%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, while the salary fund marked an increase of 14.9%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Hotels with the strongest growth in wages and sales

Indicator indices in the Hotels activity, in the fourth quarter of 2023, were the highest improvement compared to other activities.

The net sales volume index increased by 23.2%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, and the index of the number of employees increased by 4.0%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The wage fund increased by 23.1%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Bars, Restaurants, salaries increase more than sales

Indicator indices in the Bar-Restaurant activity show that sales decreased less than the salary fund in the last quarter of 2023. The net sales index in volume increased by 5.4%, compared to the fourth quarter of 202 and the number of employees 0.5% increase, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The wage fund index recorded a 13.9% increase, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Information and Communication, salaries are increasing more than sales

Indicators in the Information and Communication activity, which includes the activity of Publishing, Telecommunications as well as Information Technology services, in the fourth quarter of 2023, show that the net sales index in volume increased by 5.3%, compared to the fourth quarter 2022 and the index of the number of employees increased by 4.3%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The salary fund increased by 15.8%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Architectural and Engineering activities, the more employees increase

The indicators in Architectural and Engineering activities, in the fourth quarter of 2023 show that the net sales index in volume increased by 3.1%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022. The index of the number of employees increased by 10.3%, compared to the quarter the fourth quarter of 2022 and the index of the wage fund increased by 24.4%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

Travel agencies, double-digit growth in sales and wages

The indicators in the travel agency activity, in the fourth quarter of 2023 show that the net sales index in volume increased by 33.8%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, the index of the number of employees increased by 9.2%, compared to the quarter the fourth quarter of 2022, while the wage fund increased by 25.2%, compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
