Even for this summer season, human resources are the main problem for all tourist structures. According to tourism expert Ariol Greca, despite the fact that salaries are high, this sector still has a high demand for employees.
"This tourist season, the main problem is human resources. And to be very realistic, the job market is offering super fat salaries right now, making the ratio of professionalism that is in the market. That we have human resources, individuals who are unqualified."
But comparing it with last year, according to Greca, this year has a higher demand for employees than last year, as a result of the number of tourists who came this year to visit Albania.
"Starting with sanitation, a very big problem that our country currently has. Continuing to the service staff, to the individuals in the kitchen. The demand for current human resources is extremely high. Now that I am part of the structures of this industry, we have a very high demand. For individuals that a part of them has and irresponsibility that was not there before, leave the work in the middle. Not talking about the unprofessionalism of a majority. We must not be misunderstood. There are individuals who are professionals, but they are in very low numbers. And the great need of the market means that various entrepreneurs are forced to take on individuals who have no experience".
Since individuals who do not have the appropriate experience in the service sector are being hired, the consequences remain on the quality and standard of services.
"Regarding the service, we have an extremely large shortage. Since we have large shortages, individuals are being hired who are being recruited from different forms because there are shortages. The lack of professionalism and experience in the first place is forcing the level of service not to be at the levels we want, that Albania deserves."
According to Greca, a lot of work is needed for the service staff to be trained and this is reflected in a high standard of service for local and foreign tourists.
