The drop in the water level in Fierza lake continues without interruption. Lack of rainfall and declining river flows are leading to drying up of the largest water catchment in the country.
The water situation in the Drin cascade is not very positive, considering that the average flows of the two main rivers are very low, while the risk of falling to critical levels exists.
The White Drini and the Black Drini do not bring more than 50 cubic meters of water per second, while the level drop is 40 cm in 24 hours, while the water level has dropped by two meters in the last week alone.
In mid-October it was 271.91 meters. Currently, according to KESH, the level in the lake has reached 269.21 meters from 296.5 of the maximum quota. This fall has brought the foundations of two bridges over Drin e Zi, while the Fierza basin is leaving the coast and shrinking every day around its dome.
According to the operating room, in order to preserve the water reserve, currently no turbine is working for the production of electricity out of the four in total. We remind you that Lake Fierza at its maximum level has a water-bearing capacity of 2.7 billion cubic meters of water. While at the level of the so-called death point, 242 meters above sea level, the capacity is 1.2 billion cubic meters of water, which is not used for energy production.
