Sali Berisha reacted through a media release, inviting the citizens of the capital to join the youth protest, which he describes as a revolt of particular importance for the future of Albania.
According to the leader of the Democrats, Albanians from the diaspora are expected to join the rally, expressing their support for the students and high school students who have come out in protest.
Berisha praised the young people's stance, describing it as an extraordinary display of courage. He also claimed that the protesters were confronted with violence by police officers, whom he accused in harsh tones.
"Tirana and Albania have never seen brave boys and girls like them, who, as you have all seen, face off tooth and nail without batting an eye against uniformed drug traffickers, drugged drug traffickers, and hired killers, and have gained great sympathy among all Albanians," Berisha declared.
The leader of the DP said that the protest has gained, according to him, broad support among Albanians and has also attracted attention abroad.
"I am here to call on all citizens of the capital to join this protest, this revolt of extraordinary importance for the future of this country," Berisha declared.
He concluded his appeal by emphasizing the importance of citizen participation in the protest, while it remains to be seen how many Albanians from the diaspora will join the rally.
