Four high school students from the "Naim Frashëri" high school in Durrës have been escorted by Montenegrin police to the city of Kotor, following an incident that occurred during a tourist excursion in Montenegro.
The students, all boys, spent the night in police custody, before being released.
The incident occurred yesterday, as the group of students were returning from lunch. They clashed with an elderly local woman, who asked them where they were from.
In response, the high school students made the eagle symbol with their hands and laughed. At that moment, the old woman slapped one of the students and the situation escalated.
The woman then called the police, claiming that she had been provoked by the high school students. After the intervention, the four students were escorted to the police station, where they spent the night.
They were accompanied by a teacher who went to the police station to be with the students. After their release, they were asked not to repeat any more gestures with national symbols.
The DRAP Durrës and the Ministry of Education were notified of the incident last evening.
