44-year-old  Lorenc Bami , who was arrested the day before for interfering with the Vjosa riverbed with a shovel, was previously the head of urban planning during the time when the municipality of Tepelena was led by Tërmet Peçi .

According to the Police, the incident was detected on Friday in a place called "Gallaticë", in the village of Vasjar in Memaliaj, where services have identified interference with dredging in the Vjosa River bed, an environmentally protected area.

Bami was placed in handcuffs, while another, Andi Hasani, is under investigation for the criminal offense of "Damage to habitats in environmentally protected areas", while the procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.

In his claims, Bami says that he has contributed to a water supply, through the source under the Vjosa riverbed, from which entire areas will be supplied with water after three decades.

He claims that protected area inspectors asked him for a bribe, but he refused and they reported him for intimidation.

Meanwhile, Peçi, who is currently an MP, has been denounced to SPAK by democrat Arben Ristani for misappropriation of IPARD funds.
