The absurd conflict between the First Instance Court of Appeal and the National Chamber of Advocates has led to the cancellation and postponement of trials for dozens of cases before the First Instance Court of Appeal alone.

This absurd situation, warned of at the end of July, should have been prevented in time, both through dialogue and the intervention of the High Judicial Council, the Parliament of Albania, and other actors.

In addition to significant financial losses for the state and interested parties, it has also led to delays in judicial processes, which is an element of a fair and regular trial.

Placing lawyers under double pressure from both the First Instance Criminal Court and the National Chamber of Advocates violates not only their rights, but directly the fundamental rights of citizens involved in criminal proceedings.

The role of lawyers in the function of due process is irreplaceable.

Even in dictatorships, there have been judges and prosecutors, but democracy and the rule of law differ from dictatorships, among other things, in that they ensure the right to defense by a lawyer.

This elaborate conflict and arbitrariness only serves political games and undermines public trust in justice and the judicial system.
