PD continues to wait for January 9

A year ago, Sali Berisha decided to attack the headquarters of the party he led for 22 years with fire ladders, spikes, stones and everything he could get his hands on. At the same time, he also sealed the political return with fire and violence, just as he has always known to attack the state and the system, in order to maintain personal power.

January 8, 2022 may be, as the Berishists want to ironize it, the day of Lul Brava, but it is also the day of Sali Shkalla. It is the day when the former historical figure of Albanian politics blocked the political process in Albania by giving the message of not leaving, of recycling and of eternal return to the top of the horse everywhere in the political lines. From there, as one of his colleagues from the 90s once said, Berisha can only go down when the Almighty calls him.

What happened on January 8 is a typical picture of the first decade of Albanian pluralism, violently staged in the third decade of the century. This rough throwback was produced with the inspiration and personal direction of the man who has carried us through the tumultuous trajectory of the 90s for 32 years, the ten-year-old who gave shape and form to his violent political ideas. Sali Berisha attacked the headquarters of the Democratic Party a year ago because basically he doesn't know how to do anything else. He did this essentially unprovoked by Lulzim Basha, to whom he gave his vote of confidence even after losing the last parliamentary elections. He attacked the party because he needed an office, a podium and a letterhead, from where to continue the challenge with America.

January 8, in the words of Berisha and Foltores, was the beginning of the unification of the democrats. We know today, after a year, that the Doctor failed in his mission to repeat 2005, when he united the motionists, the salamists, and all the other isms of the right, to create a common front that gave him the impetus outside power Fatos Nanos.

Today's Berisha, quite different from the one 17 years ago, is disputed by 71 percent of Albanians. A negative number which is without the slightest doubt, even what happened a year ago, when the Doctor personally led the azaps who were teaching the walls of the PD offices. A year after taking over the party and removing the metal doors that could not protect the career of Berisha's former dolphin, Lulzim Basha, there is very little left of the spirit and expectations of the first days of Foltores. The autumn protests, which would bring down Edi Rama, were neither seen nor heard. The televised oppositionism of Berisha and Meta, with its wild language and threats in the series, was reduced to small protests like the one on December 6, when the entire opposition could only fill the surface of the big bridge of Lana.

The division of January 8 continues to remain there, even though the PD offices no longer have armored doors and even though Berisha has become their de facto undisputed owner. The opposition has become tougher, but also smaller. Because the knights of January 8 really brought with them the spirit of the decade of strife, the 90s, but forgot that everything in this world has a beginning and an end. Just like the career of the leaders of this political crusade who seek to keep Albania in the clutches of transition by force. The PD of January 8 continues to wander in the fatality of that day, without being able to tear the page in the calendar. January 9 has not yet arrived for the Democrats, and there is no telling what it will be like when it does.
