I don't find it necessary to speak like a diplomat. Diplomacy is a foreign language for the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti and a state culture that he clearly does not seem to know, unlike Mr. Enver Hoxhaj and his realistic attitudes.
That's why I am direct and I say openly the opinion I have about Prime Minister Kurti and about his attitudes vis-à-vis the crisis in the north of Kosovo.
Albin Kurti is a narrow-minded and closed-minded politician, not an open-minded politician. He is a short-sighted politician, not visionary for the present and the future of the Republic of Kosovo, a stubborn politician, not a wise politician.
Kurti has proved that he is a folkloric "sovereignist" of a state whose sovereignty was enabled and recognized first by the United States and the great democratic powers, precisely those countries that today severely criticize the Kosovar prime minister.
Kurti is a weak, bull-headed prime minister, ready to clash with anyone who knows and understands more than he does. He is a prime minister who puts his own interests and political destiny above the interests and destiny of the country and his people.
Kurti is a demagogic and populist politician at a time when you have to be open-minded and realistic.
Kosovo Albanians defeated Serbia first diplomatically, in Rambuje, then, with the help of America and NATO, also on the battlefield.
In Rambuje, Kosovo Albanians were represented by brave, wise men and boys and skilled diplomats; Prime Minister Kurti today is the opposite of them, neither brave, nor a wise politician, nor a good diplomat.
Prime Minister Kurti risks undoing the early victories of Rambuje (especially the sympathy and support of internationals) through a policy that incites conflict and a dead end diplomacy, through which Kosovo can be lost and disappointing in the eyes of the international community. while Serbia (ironically, but more so because of Kurti's refractory attitudes towards that community) may emerge victorious.
Albin Kurti forgets that, although geographically Kosovo is Albanian land, politically it became and was recognized as an independent political republic thanks to the generosity of the United States, Great Britain and other great democratic powers.
Although the analogy, like any analogy, does not hold completely, it can be said that, like Israel, Kosovo is a creation of America and its sovereignty is guaranteed precisely by America. And from NATO, which is also an American creation. It's not as simple as that!
It is naïve, to say the least, but, in the first place, it is a great irresponsibility to belittle Washington and Brussels, as Albin Kurti does. Prime Minister Rama is right when he says that the internationals are the masters of the house in Kosovo and you cannot go against them.
The issue today is not whether or not the United States and the European Union should "interfere in the internal affairs" of Kosovo, as Albin Kurti does. The issue is whether Kosovo can do without the interventions of America and the EU, its closest allies.
In the created circumstances, Albin Kurti is not only a disaster for Kosovo, but also a danger for its fortunes.
In our time, for us Albanians, wherever we live in the Balkans, Churchill's wise advice given to his cabinet members on the day he left the door as prime minister of the United Kingdom is valuable: "Never be separated from the Americans!" (Never be separated from the Americans!).
It is a fortunate coincidence for us Albanians, that in this period of our historical development as a nation, our national interests coincide with the national interests of the United States in our region.
But Mr. Kurti is blind and deaf to such a simple truth! /DAY
