The Council of Ministers has dismissed Erion Veliaj as mayor of Tirana. The decision was taken today at a government meeting led by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
On Monday, the Tirana Municipal Council approved by majority vote the Socialist Party's proposal to dismiss Erion Veliaj from the position of mayor.
A day earlier, the Prefect of Tirana officially informed them about the proposal approved by the Municipal Council. According to the law, it is the government that makes the final decision in this process.
