A massive fire engulfed the Koxhas area in Shijak this Sunday afternoon, where the flames spread rapidly due to strong winds.

Dense plumes of smoke have covered a wide area and have become visible along the Tirana-Durres highway, creating traffic difficulties and significantly reducing visibility.

Shijak firefighting forces are at the scene, working to isolate and extinguish the flames, in order to prevent the fire from spreading further.

According to preliminary information, the fire is suspected to have started from the burning of some waste, but then the flames got out of control and spread to the surrounding area.

Authorities continue to work to completely neutralize the fire and clarify the causes of the incident.
