The operator of the Distribution System has announced that it has cut off the electricity supply in the area of "Rana e Hedhun" in Shengjin, due to the fire that engulfed it.
According to the announcement, the decision was taken after the request of the order structures, as a necessary security measure to avoid further risks in the coastal area, where the flames have gotten out of control and have reached the coast.
"Our teams are on the ground, in support of the emergency groups created to extinguish the fires", says OSSH.
Meanwhile, a long line of cars, mainly with foreign tourists, has formed in the Shengjin area, in an attempt to leave due to the situation aggravated by the fires.
For more than 4 days, the fires on the hill of Shengjin continue to burn large areas of forests and bushes, while today the flames have approached the hotels and resorts filled with tourists.
The evacuation of tourists and residents has started since last midnight, as fortunately, until now, there are no reports of people injured by the fires or intoxicated by the smoke.
Hundreds of firefighters from Lezha, Shengjin and the surrounding cities, assisted by the Armed Forces, are working to put the fires under control, while even the intervention from the air has not helped to stabilize the situation.
