Yuri Kim: The time for justice to act according to standards, to be the same as

US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim reacted after the Rama-SPAK clash, where the head of government declared why the new justice has not yet launched an investigation against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and President Ilir Meta.

Speaking at the conference on "Justice in times of challenge", the US chief diplomat in Albania stated that it is not appropriate for the ruling political leaders, or not, to say that justice is served only when the opponent ends up in prison and my side does not.

She further urged prosecutors and judges of the new justice to act and meet the expectations of the Albanian people for a blind and just justice. Ambassador Kim said politicians should not seek investigation into this or that politician.

We will know that the reform has been successful, but do not call it more common, for This is what we have vetting and its functions. They should not continue with the justice of the past, the justice that should come to Albania is the one with standards that are in line with the EU, this is what people expect. future member of the EU, it is justice that has standards that are in line with the EU, and the US,is what people expect, the EU requirements are clear, I think the US actions over the last 31 years make it clear that US support for the Reform, are stronger than ever, are just as clear and expected people, and urge you to act so as not to disappoint any young people, it is time to seek justice that is blind and just in Albania.

According to the norms and practices of your US friends, and future EU friends, justice reform is considered successful when we no longer have inadequate judges and prosecutors. It will be called normal when politicians in or out of power do not seek the investigation of this or that. These are not the standards we seek to achieve in Albania. These are not the standards that Albanians demand when talking about justice reform. We need a justice, where justice is blind, all are equal before the law. "When prosecutors act, they should not pretend that someone has threatened them, ordered them or given them money," Kim said.
