The Durrës Court has remanded 27-year-old Meklajd Meçaj in prison, accused of stabbing his neighbor, Rrapush Memolla, 60.

The serious incident was recorded on Saturday evening in the Mollaj neighborhood, in Rrogozhina.

Defendant Meçaj appeared before the court with his hand bandaged, after being injured with a knife during a fight with the victim.

According to police, the incident occurred for weak motives. The 27-year-old claimed before the jury that he had no intention of killing the 60-year-old, who had previously stabbed him.

According to him, he had stopped the car near his house and provoked him with high beams. According to the accused of intentional murder, the victim had a conflict with a cousin of his.

Asked by the judge if he had any personal conflict with the victim Rrapush Memolla, the young man denied it:

"No, I personally had conflicts with that person... but my cousin had conflicts. Not with me, nothing with me, I've never spoken to him."

Meçaj has been previously convicted in Germany. The Durrës Court has accepted the prosecution's request, leaving him in custody until the end of the investigation.
