The Court of First Instance of Elbasan has sentenced Leonard Bashaliu to 18 years in prison, who is accused of killing Ylber Xhahysa after a conflict over the car.

Bashaliu is charged with the criminal offenses of "Premeditated murder", "Disturbance of public peace" and "Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

The convict was arrested immediately after this serious event, while since June 2021 he has been under the measure of prison arrest. The event took place on June 8, 2021 in the village of Gjoçaj in Peqin. The perpetrator and the victim were involved in a conflict 5 years ago, after Xhahysa scratched Bashali's car.

The victim and the perpetrator initially clashed verbally, but then it degraded to the use of violence, where they hit each other with chairs and glasses. Then Leonard Bashalliu took out his gun, shooting Ylber Xhahysa and leaving him dead.
