constitutional Court

The Constitutional Court rejected the appeal of the life sentence of Sokol Macaj, who in 2015 executed 2 Czech tourists in an attempt to rob them.

In the request filed by him a few months ago, Macaj claimed that his right to a due process had been violated as he was not granted a summary judgment by the Shkodra court which sentenced him in 2015 to life imprisonment.

The maximum sentence was given for the charges of theft resulting in death and production and possession of weapons of war. The given decision was challenged on appeal up to the Supreme Court, but none of them accepted Sokol Macaj's request.

7 years ago, the latter shot dead Michael Svatos, 27 years old, and Ana Kosinova, 36 years old, in an attempt to rob them.

Gjergj Cukali was another well-known name for justice who was overthrown by the Constitutional Court. Accused by SPAK, of a criminal group and the attempt to kill Gjon Mena with explosives, in 2021, the so-called strongman of Myslym Shyr objected to sending the criminal file for trial.

The appeal addressed by Cukali was based on the claim that he was denied the right to defense. However, this request was rejected by the black squads of the Constitutional Court.
