In order to guarantee order and public safety during the end-of-year holidays, New Year's Eve and the first days of the new year 2023, the State Police has taken a series of additional measures to ensure the smooth running of the holidays and to prevent criminal events and road ones, given that since yesterday, there has been an increase in the number of citizens entering Albania through the border crossing points.

Additional measures have also been taken to prevent the illegal use of pyrotechnics (fireworks, capsules, etc.).

For this purpose, the general plan of measures has been drawn up, through which it is aimed to:

• Increasing security in the community, throughout the territory, by increasing the presence of Police services.

• Prevention of criminal events, through complete control of the territory by Police structures, control of persons with criminal records, of their vehicles, as well as of the premises they frequent, based on informational intelligence.

• Timely provision of information for the prevention of criminal events, as well as for the capture of persons wanted for criminal events, and their prosecution.

• Increasing counters and human resources at all border crossing points. At land points, mutual cooperation with counterparts, with the aim of creating legal facilities, avoiding long queues and ensuring uniform movements, on both sides of the border.

• Increasing control at border crossing points and increasing patrols on the green border, in order to prevent and fight cross-border crimes.

• Monitoring of road axes, with smart cars, automatic radars and mobile patrols, with non-uniform vehicles, in order to prevent road accidents;

• Strengthening of control measures against entities that sell fireworks and other pyrotechnics, cooperating with the PMNZH and other law enforcement structures.

• Meanwhile, the mobile operational services (FLO) of the State Police are ready to intervene at any moment, if necessary.

The State Police is fully committed to creating a safer environment for all citizens, and in this context invites them to report any illegality to the toll-free number 112 and to the Digital Police Station.
