The Court of First Instance in Shkodër imposed a "prison arrest" measure for citizen Daniel Pepaj, suspected of being the author of the double murder of Vilson Čutaj and Klement Pepaj.
The serious event happened almost two years ago in Vrith of Malësi e Madhe. After more than two years on the run, a few days ago the 27-year-old surrendered to the Shkodra police. After his detention, Daniel Pepaj was recognized with the reconfirmation of the security measure "prison arrest" given by the court of first instance.
During this session, it was learned that Daniel Pepaj did not make any statement regarding the murder that happened on October 3, 2020, not wanting to speak at the moment, the Panorama correspondent reports.
Meanwhile, defense lawyer Arbër Raja, during the reconfirmation of the security measure, requested that Daniel Pepaj be placed under "house arrest" given that the 27-year-old has surrendered to the police. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the prosecutor of the case, Albert Murçaj, asked for the security measure of "prison arrest".
After listening to the parties, judge Izabela Radovani decided "prison arrest" for the 27-year-old. Initially, the two victims Vilson Čutaj and Klement Pepaj were found missing, while after searches by residents and police officers, the dead bodies were found near a plot of cannabis.
A few days before the serious incident, it was learned that Daniel Pepaj was beaten by the two victims with the claim that he had stolen some cannabis roots.
After being hit, according to suspicions, the 27-year-old took a gun and shot citizens Vilson Čutaj and Klement Pepaj, leaving them dead on the spot. After shooting them, it is suspected that Daniel Pepaj called his brother telling him about the double murder.
It is also thought that immediately after the incident, Daniel Pepaj left for Montenegro and then returned, hiding in the mountains of the area where he lives until he decided to surrender. It is now expected that the prosecution will request the punishment and then the court will give its decision.
