Today (January 14, 2025) the trial of Hygerta Meta, Hysen and Amarildo Meta, who are accused of murdering their father, Pëllumb Meta, will begin.

The Durrës Prosecution Office completed the investigations and submitted the criminal file for trial for the victim's three children on December 20.

The 19-year-old and her older brother, Hyseni, are accused of the criminal offense of "premeditated murder", while Amarildo Meta is accused of the criminal offense of "disposal of a corpse".

The serious incident, the reasons for which still remain a mystery, occurred on February 10, but was only discovered by the police on February 24, a few days after the victim's eldest son, Hyseni, reported his father missing.

Hygerta and Hysen Meta are accused of killing their father, and it is suspected that in collaboration with their brother Amarildo, they then buried him in the cattle shed, where the victim's lifeless body was found.

25-year-old Hysen Meta accused his sister, Hygerta, of being the perpetrator of the crime, stating that she was the one who shot his father to death.

"I was present and I saw it, it was the little sister who shot him. Her father wanted to forcefully get her engaged," the young man said during the court hearing held on February 26.

Meanwhile, during the testimony given before the black squads, Hygerta Meta declared that she is the author of the macabre crime.

The Murder of Pëllumb Meta

The horror event occurred at noon on February 10, 2024, but was only discovered 12 days later, on February 22.

Hysen Meta reported his father missing on February 13, claiming to the police that they had lost contact. The blue uniforms launched an investigation and on February 17, they found the victim's vehicle in the area called "Youth Sector", raising suspicions that we were dealing with a murder and not a disappearance.

Meanwhile, 12 days after the 51-year-old's disappearance, his body was found buried in a hut near the family's apartment in Shënavlash, Durrës. Hygerta Meta, in her testimony to the police, admitted that she had killed her father because he wanted to get her engaged against her will.

But the blue uniforms announced a day after the body was discovered that the perpetrator of the murder was the eldest son, Hysen Meta, who, according to them, had shot Plumb Meta with 4 bullets.

The latter, in his statement to the police, admitted that he had killed his father, a version which was changed during his testimony before the black squads at the Durrës Court, where he denied being involved in the crime.

The 19-year-old took responsibility, and she also showed the dynamics from the moment she made the decision to kill her father to the moment she shot him to death.
