The Albanian writer Ismail Kadare has been declared an honorary citizen of the city of Tetove. Kadare said that such moments are rare for writers, to speak to the readers of the Illyrian-Albanian world.

"You have to believe me that it's not easy for me to speak in front of you, not because I don't know how to speak some of the most complicated words that can be found in the world because I have that skill, the mastery of the word, but because such moments are very rare in the life of a writer, to be in front of the readers of one of the endless cities of the Illyrian-Albanian world", said Kadare, among other things.

Kadare expressed his thanks to those present while saying that such events also enrich the future, which belongs to the younger generations.

"When I hear your kind words about what I have written, I forget all the pains I have experienced, because the writer has great pains when he writes, but there is no greater appreciation for him than such gatherings when people expect to hear from word of mouth his something even more for what they have read from his hand.
