"My brother ran to the ground, I couldn't save him", Lear

The death of the young Lear Kurti after being escorted to the police station has still left strong questions behind, with the testimony of his friends and family contradicting the official statements of the institutions.

A few weeks ago, Lear's friend Kurti, who was with Lear when the latter was escorted to the police station, gave an interview for the show "Piranjat", where he showed that the 32-year-old was brutally raped in the police car.

Now Zyhdi Spahiu, 36 years old, says that he is being chased by the police everywhere and is being kept under surveillance all the time.

Immediately after the interview, he was called to the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, where he was held for about 3 hours. Even when the journalist of "Piranjave" went to ask why they had taken him, at first he didn't get an answer until finally it was accepted that he was called as a witness.

Later on November 2, Spahiu was escorted after he was caught driving while drunk. He was stopped by the police just a few meters after he had communicated with them to move the car, as he says, he had taken something to eat at a "fast food" on Durrës street.

"These must want something to catch up with me, they want to know what I do, what I eat, what I drink, where I sleep, everything. They try to shut me up, but they won't shut me up. I will go to the end of this," he says.

At the moment he was accompanied, Spahiu says that the same person who was there the night Leari was accompanied and addressed him saying "why are you letting me talk. Even in the region, he addressed Spahi again, saying "what he did to himself with this statement, it will come out of his mouth" (interview with "Piranjat").

The 36-year-old goes even further when he says that the night Leari was accompanied, he was drunk and opposed the law enforcement. However, he was released as soon as Leary passed away, with the police thinking that he would remain silent in exchange for his freedom. But he doesn't back down.

“Ligji është i barabartë për të gjithë. Ke bërë një krim do marrësh dënimin, siç mbaj unë përgjegëjsi. Kam bërë një krim, kam vuajtur dënimin. Shpresoj që ata të marrin dënimin e duhur sepse vëllanë tim, Learin nuk e kthejmë dort më”, thotë ai, teksa rikonfirmon deklaratat e bëra 3 javë më parë.

Spahia shprehet i bindur në deklaratat e tij dhe tregon se askush nuk ka arsye për t’i besuar policisë.

“Shqiptarët janë të gjithë me mua sepse e dinë se policia jonë ëhstë shumë habrute. Nuk ka mënyrë komunikimi fare. Në momentin që do ndalohet çdo qytetar do trembet. Sikur jemi në luftë, ne sjemi në luftë. Detyra e këtyre është ta mbrojnë qytetarin”, thotë ai, teksa thekson se kushdo që të ishte nuk do e gëlltiste lëndën narkotike, por do e hidhte.

Spahia kërkon me ngulm drejtësi për shokun e tij.
