A fire broke out today in the village of Granary in Fier, and spread rapidly favored by strong wind.

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi says an Air Force Helicopter has been launched to the scene.

Firefighters and residents are also on the ground who are trying to keep the flames away from the homes.

"Immediately after the announcement by the civil emergency structures of Fier municipality, for a fireplace on an area of olive trees and bushes in the village of Hambar, in the administrative unit Cakran, was launched for air and helicopter cougar intervention.

The fires have rapidly progressed due to the strong wind. Fire forces and residents of the area are working on the ground to avoid any danger to nearby homes," said Minister Peleshi.
