The draft of the new Criminal Code has sparked numerous critical reactions.

Today, Prosecutor General Olsi Çela opposed it with many arguments, emphasizing that what we have more of a problem with are the practices of criminal procedure than with the Criminal Code itself.

Çela also emphasized that the spirit of the draft of the new criminal code has a repressive tendency that increases the potential for criminalization of the individual in society, expanding the circle of actions that are categorized as dangerous.

In the draft of the New Criminal Code, the word 'prison' is found in many articles.

And an example of this is Article 424 on the technical inspection of vehicles.

The draft article of the New Criminal Code states that failure to perform technical inspections of motor vehicles or in violation of the law will be considered a criminal offense punishable by a fine of up to two years in prison.
