The Elbasan court returned the file of the three accused as Russian spies and asked the prosecution to conduct additional investigations.
One of the tasks ordered by the court is to classify whether or not Cekin's military plant in Gramsh is an object of high importance from which secrets could be obtained.
This will then determine the level of information that the three young men, Mikhail Zorin, Svetlana Timofeva, and Fedir Alpatov, who are accused of providing information, otherwise known as espionage, were receiving.
All three have been facing justice since August 2022, Zorin is under house arrest, while the other two are under mandatory reporting.
Journalist Anila Hoxha reports for Top Channel that the investigations into the young people who insist on being bloggers were closed in April 2024, and during this time, preliminary hearings were held behind closed doors, which were closed without going into the merits of the case.
The prosecution has as strong evidence Zorin's confession that he was recruited by the FSB during a protest demanding the release of opposition leader Aleksei Navalny.
The prosecution mentions that the young people have also photographed other important areas such as the Bovilla reservoir dam, the former Gjadri military airport, Zallherri, and the satellite antenna at Cape Rodoni.
