Tons of drugs to Italy, SPAK demands 128 years in prison for 8 of the defendants

The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime has today given the claim for eight of the defendants of the operation "Spirit". For the eight defendants arrested in June 2020 SPAK has requested a prison sentence.

More specifically, SPAK requires:

- 20 years in prison for Ilirjan Duçellari 
- 18 years in prison for Mariglen Duçellari
- 15 years in prison for Aurel Kalarin
- 15 years in prison for Kleo Bregu
- 15 years in prison for Orhan Duçellari
- 15 years in prison for Julian Bejdollari
- 15 years in prison for Rexhino Muçaj
- 15 years in prison for Alban Koshi

They are accused of committing the criminal offenses "Narcotics Trafficking", in cooperation, within a structured criminal group "," Laundering the proceeds of crime or criminal activity "," Structured criminal group "," Committing criminal offenses " by the criminal organization and the structured criminal group ”.

The accused were involved in the trafficking network that was hit during the Italian-Albanian operation, where 3.5 tons of drugs were blocked. Their criminal activity was spread in Bari, Puglia and Albania. The drugs were sent to Italy by sea, where the most widely used route was between Vlora and Puglia by ocean-going rafts. The evidence that the Italian anti-mafia and the police structures in the country have managed to provide, show that we are dealing with a powerful criminal organization based in Vlora.
