Six people were identified by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office and the US Bureau of Criminal Investigation as being involved in illegal travel from Albania to America.
Hazi Macin and his wife, Cekrez Nikoci, Ardian Pirani, Alfred Maci and Endrit Nezaj , are accused of aiding and abetting illegal border crossing and forgery.
The six are suspected of facilitating the illegal border crossing of a citizen from Albania to Santo Domingo , where he was discovered while waiting to travel to the US .
The file provided by Tch documents the case of an Albanian who had paid 35,000 euros to illegally enter the US, but had remained in the Dominican Republic for a year.
The Diplomatic Security Service /Office of Criminal Investigations abroad informed authorities about the smuggling case.
" The intelligence available to this office has revealed that an Albanian citizen named Ajet Hyka , born on May 15, 1980, along with several other Albanian citizens, have been smuggled into the Caribbean region for several months, with the intention of subsequently illegally crossing into the United States of America."
According to the data, the person suspected of organizing this activity is Albanian citizen Hazir Maci, alias Aleko Maci.
The records show that Hazir Maci asked at least three Albanians, including Ajet Hyka, to send them to America and Canada for a price of $35,000.
The route that Maci follows to smuggle people starts from our country, where they are recruited, and then from European countries to the Dominican Republic, and from there with false documents to Canada or through Puerto Rico, using false travel documents to Florida or other US states.
Following the information available to this office, it appears that Albanian citizen Ajet Hyka, along with other Albanian citizens, were smuggled and sent according to the plans and organizations of citizen Hazir Maci to the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, probably since the beginning of 2024.
In particular, citizen Ajet Hyka was even detained by local authorities in possession of false documents while attempting to board an international flight.
"Also, from data available from several law enforcement partners in that region, it has been learned that Ajet Hyka remained in Santo Domingo for a long time, waiting to be smuggled into America, and did not have a travel document to return to Albania, in short, he was stuck there for more than a year ," the investigative file provided by tch states .
