Trial tests for ninth-grade students before they take the national exams that mark the end of the 9-year cycle and the transition to high school, are viewed positively by education experts as they will give students something new.
"For us it is a very positive innovation that should have been done much earlier. Because when the students are in the final exam, they will normally be familiar with the form of a test. So it will have a positive effect," said Isa Halilaj, from the independent education union.
But on the other hand, the union wants to be paid for the consultation hours that teachers conduct with students to prepare them for exams.
"There is a problem with us, during this period, the teachers of these subjects are charged with consultation hours, or they should be paid as supplementary hours or we should look at measuring the hours of these subjects in order to compensate for the consultation hours that are done on the eve of the exams", said Halilaj.
Ninth grade students will take three exams at the end of June, starting with the Albanian language on the 20th to continue with mathematics on the 28th and ending with mathematics on June 28.
