The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has sentenced 4 people accused of the attempted murder of Xhevdet Plaku to a total of 19.4 years of imprisonment.

Thus, Ramazan Rapi alias Kep Arapi has been sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The former crime boss in Durrës, Dedan Gjoni, was sentenced to 4.8 years in prison. Yes, Algert Rapi and Delvi Gjermëni were also sentenced to 4.8 years in prison.

All the convicts were tried with a shortened process and benefited from the reduction of the sentence by 1/3.

The Elder's execution would be carried out for revenge.

The plan to kill the Elder was discovered thanks to the interceptions of the Dutch authorities on Davey German.

In 2019, Gjoni, on duty with the Durrës Police, accompanied Xhevdet Plaku and informed Germain about the time when he would release him.

Germany then notified Algert Rapi, Rexhep Rapi's nephew, to execute the Elder. The heinous crime failed because Germany feared that the information he provided would be revealed later and lied to the accomplices by telling them that the target had left.

SPAK's investigations also showed that the reason for the planned assassination that was not carried out was because Rexhep Rapi suspected that Xhevdet Plaku was the author of the murder of one of his relatives in Italy in 2000.
