The tender procedure for the construction of the new commercial port in Porto Romano has been interrupted after the only company remaining in the competition withdrew from the process.

This concerns the company Archirodon, which did not submit a financial offer within the deadline set on March 9, causing the procedure to not proceed further.

The tender had an estimated value of around 400 million euros and aimed to build a new commercial port in Porto Romano, a project considered key for the development of port infrastructure and the country's economy.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi , has also reacted to this withdrawal .

After the end of the Government meeting, Karakaçi announced that the withdrawal of the last bidder is related to economic reasons, mainly to the increase in project costs as a result of the crisis and the general increase in market prices.

He emphasized that the commission will follow the relevant procedures and consider further steps for the project.

Karakaçi also underlined that despite the difficulties or various factors that may try to hinder it, the project for the construction of the new port in " Porto Romano" will continue, as it is considered an important investment for the country's economic development.

"We have a withdrawal of the only bidder who was left in this competition for an economic reason, due to increased costs. Due to the effect of the crisis, there is an increase in costs and the contractor, the bidder, has made a withdrawal, justifying it with economic purposes. Which the commission will follow up with the continuation of the procedure. Two days ago, the prime minister spoke about this project and clearly stated that there are actors of different types who are trying to sabotage this important project for various purposes, including economic purposes. We will build a different scenario and any other actor or factor will not be able to stop this project, as it is an important project for economic development," the minister said.
