A week after the serious event where 14-year-old Martin Cani was killed near the Fan Noli school, parents, students, civil society representatives are protesting again today in front of the Ministry of Education where they demand the resignation of Minister Ogerta Manastirliu.

"Ministry of Shame!...Ministry of Shame!". With these calls, the lawyer Gentian Serjani addressed the citizens in the second protest after the murder of the 14-year-old, for the non-reaction of this institution. The first in the list of demands is for the political parties not to use the murder of the 14-year-old for political debate, while it demands a transparent investigation into the event after the statement of the father of the injured boy about the involvement of other people in this event.

"I appeal to political parties not to use the event for your political debate! The safety of our children's lives cannot be the next event for their political campaign.

Secondly, we have seen how the father of the injured boy has stated that the event is different from what the police have stated. I call on the investigative body to conduct a transparent investigation on the event, it is the only way for us to console Martin's father and family."

According to him, this event should be turned into a national emergency and called on the Ministry of Education to draw up a plan to prevent such events, while asking for more psychologists in schools and guards not to be paid by parents.

"Thirdly, I appeal to the government and the Minister of Education that the event should definitely be an alarm to turn the issue into a national emergency. We cannot wait for another case of loss of life in our children. We definitely need a structure from some institutions and parents to analyze and come up with a plan on how to prevent such events

My appeal is to the Ministry of Education and the government: Guards should not be paid with parents' money. Security officers should be appointed by this ministry to prevent such situations and the duty and role of security officers in schools should be reviewed.

I would like to have more psychologists in schools, and this is done by increasing the budget. We cannot spend more money on prisoners than on our children."

He also called on the parents present at this protest to be vigilant and hold the school structures, the parents' council and the management board accountable.

“My appeal is to every parent in this meeting; be more vigilant when it comes to the structures located in the educational institution. Today we heard that in the school where the incident happened, there were 3 collisions of children during the day. One at 8:00, the second at 10 and 13 the murder was committed. Hold the parent council, the school board accountable, let's hold them accountable. If we demand accountability from these structures, we will set in motion all the structures to demand the rights of our children".
