The Special Court has sentenced Vangjush Dako, the former mayor of Durrës Municipality, to 2 years and 8 months in prison.

Against the former socialist mayor, SPAK requested the punishment of Vangjush Dako for "abuse of duty" in two cases and requested 4 years of imprisonment.

But, due to the shortened trial, Vangjush Dako was sentenced to 2.8 years in prison.

Dako was represented by his lawyer, Petrit Ismaili, who during the final conclusions asked for innocence or, in case of a guilty verdict, asked for a suspension of the execution of the prison sentence.

The former mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako is accused of having committed the criminal offense of "abuse of duty" in two cases.

One case concerns the construction of a building in Durres 11 years ago, which collapsed due to the earthquake in November 2019, and the other case concerns a tender for the construction of a promenade in 2014-2015, which has caused a damage of 18 million ALL to the state budget.
