The US ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, has reacted regarding the election of the new head of SPAK, where the three candidates in the race are Edvin Kondili, Adnan Xholi and Altin Dumani.
In a post on Twitter, Kim states that the new head of SPAK should be chosen based on qualifications and history and be able and determined to intensify the fight against corruption and organized crime.
It further demands that the selection process should be free from manipulation by those who seek to block or influence justice. The head of American diplomacy in Albania says that such tactics belong to a past that has harmed a lot.
Yuri Kim's post:
Now that the candidates for the next head of the SPAK have been confirmed, it is essential that the process be transparent so that the next head of the Special Prosecution is selected based on qualifications and background and is able and determined to intensify the fight against corruption and organized crime.
The selection process must be free from manipulation by those who seek to block or influence justice, by those who prefer the old ways and therefore oppose justice reform. Such tactics belong to a past that has done much harm. SPAK, like the reform in justice, should serve the future of Albania.
