The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted through a post on social networks regarding the trial of backlogged files in the High Court.

In its post, the American embassy points out that in 2019, the Supreme Court had only one judge out of the 19 it should have, while today there are only 3 unfilled seats. In the post, it is emphasized that more should be done on the backlog of files, as Albanians deserve fast and real justice

"In 2019, the Supreme Court had one judge from 19 countries. Today there are 16 members and only three unfilled seats.
In July 2020, the Supreme Court had a backlog of about 35,000 cases. As of April 2021, the project to The US-funded caseload has processed over 8,200 backlog cases - and the Supreme Court has ruled on 5,200 of them.

More needs to be done. The US will continue to support the Supreme Judicial Council as it fills remaining vacancies on the Supreme Court and will support major efforts to reduce the case backlog. Albanians deserve fast, real justice," the embassy's post says.
