Scandal: RENEA hires amateurs to find Ilir Kurti, the diver is stranded on his

The search operation to find Ilir Kurti in the Osumi Canyons risks producing another tragedy.

A young man who had come to the aid of RENEA in the Osumi Canyons in Skrapar, to find 42-year-old Ilir Kurti, has gotten stuck.

Xhuljano Kaloti has been isolated since noon. Deployed to the aid of RENEA in the waters of the Osum River, to assist in the search for the 42-year-old, Kaloti, a 22-year-old from Berat, has been stuck in the water since noon today (February 21) and operations to extract him from the area where he is stuck have failed.

According to information received from residents of the city of Skrapar, this serious incident occurred during the search in the Osumi Canyons to find Kurti's body, which is suspected to have been thrown into the river on the evening of February 19.

Sources claim that while sailing in canoes, one of the rafts capsized due to the strong current of the water and Xhuljano Kaloti got stuck between the rocks of what is called the "Third Strait", at the entrance to a cave.

He has been in the water for hours, and although helicopter assistance has been requested to pull him out with a rope, no one has gone to the area to help the 22-year-old.

Low temperatures and icy water in the canyons seriously endanger the life of the 22-year-old who entered to assist RENEA forces.

It is learned that only residents are in the area, who are trying to pull him out by throwing a rope from above, as the fire department has found it impossible to enter the area, but so far, pulling him out of the water has proven impossible.

The Osumi Canyon is about 12 km long and its depth reaches up to 90 meters, and at this level of flow, intervention by untrained people poses maximum risk.
