The Court of Appeals of General Jurisdiction has sentenced Azgan Mrnica to 35 years in prison , found guilty of the murder of police officer Novruz Cenalia .

The event occurred on May 13, 2024 in Fier.

Previously, the Fier Court had sentenced Mrnica to life imprisonment, but the decision was overturned on appeal.

How the serious incident happened:

The serious incident occurred on May 13, 2024, at around 1:30 p.m., in the village of Baltëz in the Municipality of Fier. According to the investigative file, everything started as a banal conflict. 

Azgan Mrnica was driving his vehicle at high speed on a dangerous curve when he was stopped by Officer Novruz Cenalia , who drew his attention to his dangerous driving style while on duty.

According to the Prosecution, after a heated verbal argument, Mrnica pulled out his firearm and shot the officer dead with a bullet to the head.

Following the incident, the accused was captured by law enforcement after a 48-hour operation and negotiations with his family.
