The Belgian police have arrested 5 drug traffickers after the seizure of 1.2 tons of cocaine by the Dutch authorities in the port of Rotterdam.

Among those arrested is an Albanian and a Dutchman, who were caught red-handed while they were checking the container in a warehouse in Oudebaan in Wilrijk, hoping to find drugs, without knowing that the Police had set a "trap" for them.

Dutch customs authorities had previously removed the cocaine inside the container that landed in the port of Rotterdam, and the empty space was filled with a fake substance.

A Flemish driver picked up the container in Rotterdam and brought it to Wilrijk, Belgium on Tuesday evening. Once the container was inside, the Belgian police intervened and caught the suspects red-handed.

Antwerp public prosecutor's spokesman Kristof Aerts said: "Five suspects have been arrested. It is about men aged 28, 29, 40, 45 and 54 years old. The judge has sent all five to custody."
