Albanian smugglers in England are refusing extradition to Belgian prisons, claiming that the cells are so small and overcrowded that they violate their rights.

Sabah Zeka, an Albanian who has obtained UK citizenship, is facing 12 years in prison in Belgium after being convicted as a member of a smuggling gang, according to the Daily Telegraph, which Top Channel refers to.

He claims that in the Belgian prison there is no more than three square meters per cell, which would violate his rights, as he mentions under the European Convention on Human Rights.

Albanian smugglers are fighting extradition to Belgian prisons under the claim that the cells are so small and overcrowded that they violate their human rights.

The members of the group were caught transporting illegal immigrants, including women and children, from Belgium to England. In exchange, they would receive 10,000 pounds for those who sat in the back of the truck and 6,000 pounds for those who sat in the front. Zeka played the role of the gang's organizer.

However, two high court judges dismissed the gang members' complaints, saying there was "insufficient evidence" to prove that Belgium was not fulfilling its obligation under article three of the ECHR.
