Albanians seem to be obsessed with personalized license plates, even though this service is included in the luxury "obsessions" due to the expensive prices.

In an interview for Panorama TV, the head of DPSHTRR, Blendi Gonxhe, said that in the space of one month there were 890 applications for personalized license plates. The most expensive license plate so far has been sold for 245,000 lek, and forms the name DARSI. According to Gonxhe, 18 million and 500 thousand ALL were collected from personalized license plates in the month of March alone.

Gonxhe emphasized that another model of personalized license plates is being worked on, where the letters will be 3D but also with color combinations. The price for these models will be even more expensive.

"We are working is a first news for you. We are working on a custom license plate with custom colors and features. With round cupping with 3D cupping. Metallic gray license plate, and color combination. But also a black license plate with chrome lettering on the hood. Privileged license plates. I believe in April, May, June we will have the new products. These revenues will be distributed to improve services."

Blendi Gonxhe explains that when a person buys a personalized license plate, he cannot sell it together with the vehicle. These license plates must be kept by him for use in another vehicle or they will be returned to DPSHTRR.

"Citizens can also buy an inexpensive car license plate. What is prohibited is that you cannot sell the car with a personalized license plate. But you can keep this license plate for yourself for a better car. On the contrary, the license plates belong to DPSHTRR. You must return the license plates. Because the passage of the vehicle with personalized tags, it will not be allowed to be sold to another person. The license plate is automatically returned to DPSHTRR to sell this combination. We can keep a license plate and put it on the cars we own, but not transfer it to a third party."

Many of the license plates will be auctioned. Blendi Gonxhe explains that the auction will include names of provinces, cities or other names that do not belong to just one person. Showbiz characters, according to Gonxhe, are among the people most interested in these license plates, starting mainly with artists who want to have a very distinct social status.

Focusing on the security elements, Gonxhe said that these personalized license plates have barcodes and holograms that can only be examined by the police.

Citizens can travel, this license plate will not be a problem. According to Gonxha, all international institutions have been notified about these license plates.
