An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale was registered at 02:42 on Wednesday morning, on the Adriatic coast, 16 kilometers from Lezha.
The seismic tremors were strongly felt in Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, as far as Montenegro, but fortunately without leaving behind any material damage.
But even though this earthquake was accompanied by an aftershock, with a magnitude of 2 on the Richter scale, seismologists tell TV Klan that there is no room for panic.
For seismologists, such tremors are normal in a country like ours, which ranks among countries with moderate seismic activity.
Even according to them, such oscillations of this magnitude are necessary to occur from time to time, as they release the accumulated energies of tectonic fractures.
The history of the strongest earthquakes in our country shows that the most frequent were those with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale, except in 1911 with the epicenter in Lake Ohrid, where the estimated magnitude was 6.7.
