145,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages

A quantity of 145,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages were seized on Thursday morning by the Greek finance and police.

According to Tch information, the record amount of alcoholic beverages was destined for Albania.

It is known that the 10 containers in which the contraband drinks were located, were sent from Georgia and arrived in Pires 8 days ago.

Sources from the Greek customs said that they had information from the European Office for the Prevention of Fraud and Counterfeiting (OLAF) regarding the cargo itinerary, so they were alerted to the blocking of the amount transported.

From the analyzes carried out in the state chemistry laboratory in Athens, it turned out that the drinks were not original and outside the parameters of the European Union, so they were seized.

The sources told Tch that the information related to the route of the cargo was given to them by their Dutch counterparts, with whom they have also carried out several joint operations during the last two years.

The quantity of the goods was sent to the customs warehouses of Piraeus, while the investigations will continue to clarify the complete line of trafficking of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes between the Eastern countries and the European Union.
