The family members demand an investigation into the death of the electrician Ylli Boba

On January 31, Ylli Boba would lose his life in Bulqiza. The police announced on the day of the tragic event that the 32-year-old man fell from the pole while working to repair electrical connections as he worked as an electrician.

But in a statement, his family members deny that the incident happened like this. They stated that according to the autopsy, the determining cause of death was an electric shock.

The serious event has caused family members to raise doubts about the procedures followed. The family members accuse the Labor Inspectorate of not exercising control in relation to technical insurance, working conditions and the lack of work tools on the part of OSHEE.

"We know nothing about the manipulation of the circumstances of the event. We know that in the place where this accident happened, another accident happened. Even the employees who have been helping Ylli have said, will this boy work here with these tools? Don't you know that there was another accident in this place? They are made with primitive scale, without tools at all. Chuni is not a specialist to work in the electrical booth. The news has it that he was impaled. In fact, he was not killed on an electric pole, he was killed in the high voltage cabin", said a relative.

The family members say that the 32-year-old man was not specialized in making interventions in the 10,000 volt network of the cabins, but was employed as a maintainer. He had been working there for a year.

"He was a caretaker there. He only for non-implementation of rules. We will seek justice to the last point. Even if not in a legal way, they will act in another way. His own brother does not leave shortcomings. Chuni, his own brother, says he doesn't know what to do. Starting from the most basic, from the equipment, there was no handle, as soon as he put his hand on the wall, he was electrocuted. They have not stopped the energy, the high voltage. They have declared that we have not stopped him at all, that there is neither an order nor a record. How does one work in an electric cabin with a voltage of 10 thousand volts? At a time when even the person responsible has caught the current that they worked without any conditions. I was told by the electricians there themselves. They have notified, come on, fix the defect. The one who brought the ladder to him told the person in charge that work is not done with these ladders. The person in charge told us that we had these conditions", said a relative.

Another claim of the family members is the transportation of the deceased to the hospital.

"It was transported on foot from the scene to the causeway below. It was transported by people, not by vehicle. They did not help him at all because they told us that people came and cried and carried him by the arm" , said another family member.

They expect the event to be investigated and to find out who gave the order, and who forced a non-specialized employee to intervene under high tension.

"What we are asking is for the Labor Inspectorate to investigate whether there was a work order and minutes as the case requires, where the intervention was made in the 10,000 watt electric cabin, whether or not the voltage was reduced, whether it was worked under the conditions of a voltage active high? The other, which is equally important, is related to the transportation of the victim in the specific case of Ylli. Was it done according to the procedure or are we in the conditions where there were also signs of life and the way he was transported, the first aid and the quick aid he was given properly? These are the concerns that we, as family members, share and ask the competent bodies to give the appropriate attention to, at least to ease the pain of the family members and why not to minimize other cases where we may have loss of life due to non-compliance with the conditions technical at work or transportation from the scene to the hospital", said Erjola Lami, lawyer, also family member of the deceased.
